GIFIC Guadix Iridiscente International Film Festival
GIFIC returns to Guadix from September 10 to 13, 2026 for its second edition. The Guadix Iridescent International Film Festival is a festival dedicated to human rights and social issues cinema, screening a carefully curated selection of feature films, documentaries and short films from around the world, spread across three venues: the Teatro Mira de Amescua (main venue, hosting the opening and closing galas), the Fundación Visconti (Views from Asia section) and the Asociación San José (Cine de Graná, Andalusia Section and short film sessions). Admission to all screenings is free until capacity is reached. This edition features the Honorary Award for actress María Galiana. 2026 Honorary Award: María Galiana
GIFIC will present its 2026 Honorary Award to Seville-born actress María Galiana, one of the most beloved and respected performers in Spanish film and television, in recognition of an exceptional artistic career and her contribution to Andalusian cinema and culture.
The award will be presented at the Closing Gala, Sunday, September 13 at 12:00 noon at the Teatro Mira de Amescua, by Antonio Velázquez, GIFIC 2025 Honorary Award recipient.

Guadix: a legendary natural film set
Attending GIFIC also means walking through a movie setting. Guadix and its surrounding area, part of the Geoparque de Granada, have lent their landscapes to film landmarks such as Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Doctor Zhivago, and Sergio Leone’s classic spaghetti westerns. The light on its hills, the whitewashed chimneys of its cave houses, and the human scale of its architecture continue to be an endless muse for filmmakers from around the world.
Combine the festival with a guided tour of the city: the 11th-century Arab fortress (alcazaba), the cathedral, the cave houses and the viewpoints surrounding the city offer historical context that makes GIFIC a complete and unforgettable experience.
